DISTRICT - $23,000 PROPERTY TAX HIKE 1 YEAR

My conversation with the agent at the appraisal
district in Tom Green county, Texas over property
tax on my property was basically non-productive. I asked why my
property
valuation improvements had gone up nearly $23,000 in one year
from 2025 to 2026. The agent told me it is the way property tax
is now evaluated and that my property was compared to other properties
near mine and said the prior appraisals in previous years were too low
so they had to correct them. They never sent me a notice of correction on my property, so that's a phony excuse.
There were no real major improvements on my property except an
unfinished minimal safety fence beside my driveway from my gate out
toward the front of the property to discourage dogs from roaming in
here and to stop kids from carrying gasoline cans across my driveway to
the next property. Other than that a coat of paint was added to
part of the house. Apparently they didn't even consider that and
just hiked it up nearly $23,000 in one year, saying it was for lost
years of not taxing me enough! Reprehensible! Inflation is
not my fault and should not be my problem, but it appears they are
making me pay for inflation.
So I told the agent, "So that's it - you can arbitrarily raise my
property tax by tens of thousands of dollars without sending me any
notifications of corrections on bills, etc., and there's nothing we can
do about it." He responded if I had acted around April or so and
brought photos of the interior of home, etc., and general condition
something might have been allowed on it, but now it is too late.
Nearly $23,000 increase in "improvements" in one year!!!!! Only a
minimal fence installed. A somewhat old run down little house
hardly bigger than 800 square feet gets a $23,000 tax hike!
Property tax is now a scam and your property tax payments are for these
sorry tax assholes to draw a
salary and pension by riding and sitting atop your money-making ass,
bankrupting you! This is insane robbery where there is supposed
to be taxation with representation and there is no representation.
